With such a talented group of horses lining up to take part in the Group 3 Easter Cup this Saturday April 23, 2011, punters are having a difficult time trying to choose a favourite in the race’s betting markets.
The shortest priced favourites are currently Fanjura, Kutchinsky and Shamoline Warrior, who are all paying the reasonably long priced odds of $8 to win the 2011 Easter Cup at Luxbet.
The six-year-old Lee Freedman-trained Fanjura is looking to win his first race of the season after finishing second over 2,000 metres at Flemington last start.
The Marju gelding has won six of his 22 race starts and is the reigning champion of the $125,000 Easter Cup, winning the event last year by almost two lengths.
Tony Noonan’s Kutchinsky also has a Group winning history, winning the Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes in May of last year.
Most recently the four-year-old displayed his top horse racing form by finishing fourth at Rosehill Gardens in the Group 3 Queen’s Cup.
Shamoline Warrior will be hoping to improve his performances, after only managing to finish in the placings once during his four starts this preparation.
The four-year-old Sharmadal gelding has won three of his 11 career starts, including the Group 3 Norman Robinson Stakes on October 17, 2010.
Shamoline Warrior has drawn barrier one for the 2011 Easter Cup and will be ridden by apprentice jockey Billy Egan.
Wind Shear and Abitofado are currently the least fancied horses in the field, both paying odds of $51 at Luxbet.
